The CC1150 is a true single chip UHF transmitter designed for extremely low power wireless applications. It is part of the SmartRF technology platform based on Texas Instruments 0.18μm CMOS technology. The circuit is primarily used in the 315-, 433-, 868-, and 915-MHz bands of ISM(Industrial, Scientific, and medical) and SRD(Short range devices), but can easily be programmed to run on other frequencies in the 300-348 MHz, 400-464 MHz, and 800-928 MHz bands.

The RF transmitter incorporates a highly configurable baseband modulator. The modulator supports a variety of modulation formats and has configurable data rates of up to 500kbaud. The CC1150 device provides extensive hardware support for packet processing, data buffering, and burst transmission.

The main working parameters of the CC1150 and the 64 byte transmission FIFO can be controlled through the SPI interface. In a typical system, the CC1150 device will be used with a microcontroller and some additional passive components.

Overview

The CC1150 transmitter is based on a direct synthesis of RF frequencies. The frequency synthesizer includes a fully on-chip LC VCO. A crystal is connected to XOSC_Q1 and XOSC_Q2. The crystal oscillator generates the reference frequency of the synthesizer, as well as the digital part of the clock. The 4-wire SPI serial interface is used for configuration and data buffer access. Digital baseband includes support for channel configuration, packet processing, and data buffering.
