AVX has introduced a new series of high temperature wet electrolytic tantalum capacitors. The new TWA-X series of wet electrolytic tantalum capacitors are designed for 230 ° C use. They have a high-capacitance cathode system that provides high CV performance in standard case sizes, and uses sealed, soldered tantalum cans and plug assemblies to provide powerful Mechanical resistance to shock and high frequency vibration. This series of capacitors is also ideal for industrial, defense, aerospace and oil drilling equipment. It has also been mechanically tested in accordance with MIL-STD-202 and offers one of the longest usable capacitors with the longest service life-up to 500 hours 400μF operating at 230 ° C. They are currently available in DSCC case size T4 (AVX case size 'E') and two initial ratings: 400μF / 100V and 330μF / 125V.
"Our new TWA-X series offers high temperature versions of conventional wet electrolytic tantalum capacitors, which are especially suitable for use in oil drilling and other high temperature, harsh environment applications," said Mitch Weaver, AVX.
The axial lead T4 capacitor is 26.97 mm in length and 10.31 mm in diameter (with insulation sleeve), or 9.52 mm in diameter (without insulation sleeve). The axial leads are RoHS-compatible, lead-free compatible matte tin or 60/40 tin / lead, with a length of 57.15mm.
A 400μF / 100V capacitor is rated for 2,000 hours at 200 ° C when it is reduced to 60V, and 500 hours at 230C when it is reduced to 25V. 330μF / 125V devices are rated for 500 hours at 200 ° C when derated to 75V, and 500 hours at 230 ° C when reduced to 40V.
