Analog Devices' ADA4571 Anisotropic Magnetoresistive (AMR) sensor integrates a signal conditioning amplifier and ADC driver to produce two analog outputs that indicate the angular position of the surrounding magnetic field. The ADA4571 contains two dies in one package, an AMR sensor, and a fixed gain (nominal G = 40) instrumentation amplifier. The device provides clean and amplified cosine and sine output signals related to the angle of the rotating magnetic field. The output voltage range is proportional to the supply voltage. The sensor is packaged in an 8-lead SOIC and contains two Wheatstone bridges at a relative angle of 45 ° to each other. The rotating magnetic field in the xy sensor plane provides two sinusoidal output signals, the frequency of the angle (α) between the sensor and the direction of the magnetic field is twice. In a uniform field in the XY plane, the output signal is independent of the physical position (air gap) in the Z direction. Applications include absolute position measurement (linear and angular), brushless DC motor control and positioning, actuator control and positioning, non-contact angle measurement and detection, and magnetic angular position sensing.
