ADI's LT8350 is a monolithic 4-switch synchronous buck-boost converter featuring a Silent Switcher architecture that minimizes EMI emissions while providing high efficiency at high switching frequencies. The device can regulate the output voltage, input or output current, the input voltage can be higher, lower or equal to the output voltage. A proprietary peak current mode control scheme allows adjustable and synchronizable 200 kHz to 2 MHz fixed frequency operation, or spread spectrum frequency modulation (SSFM) operation. With an input voltage range of 3V to 40V, output voltage capability of 1V to 18V, and seamless low noise transition between operating regions, the LT8350 is ideal for charging regulators, batteries and supercapacitors in automotive, industrial, telecom and battery powered systems ideal for appliance applications.
The LT8350 provides input or output current monitoring and power good marking. Robust fault protection is also provided to detect output short-circuit conditions during which the LT8350 can retry, latch, or keep running.Evaluation Circuit The EVAL-LT8350-AZ is a 40 V synchronous buck-boost converter using the LT8350. Drives up to 2.5 A at 12 V output when VIN is between 9 V and 40 V. The input voltage can be as low as 3 VIN and the output current will be reduced. The EVAL-LT8350-AZ operates at 350 kHz switching frequency with spread spectrum modulation (SSFM) disabled. When enabled, SSFM extends the LT8350's switching frequency from fSW to fSW +25% for reduced EMI emissions.
