Bourns, a world-renowned leading manufacturer of electronic components, has launched a new series of POWrFuse high-power fuses. The Bourns POWrFuse PF-K series are ISO 8820-8 compliant and designed to protect high voltage accessory circuits in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). These circuits exist in a variety of EV/HEV applications, including electrical energy storage (ESS), battery disconnect units (BDU), and battery management systems (BMS).
Bourns' newest POWrFuse EV fuses are tested for environmental reliability, transient current cycling, and device electrical and fusing characteristics according to Bourns' in-house automotive quality standards. Models in the PF-K series are rated from 15 to 50 A and are available with bolt-on and PCB mount options. These new high voltage EV fuses support operation up to 500 VDC with a breaking surge rating of 20 kA at 500 VDC and an extended temperature range of -55 to +125 °C.
