MikroElektronika (MIKROE), an embedded solutions company that dramatically reduces development time by offering innovative hardware and software products based on proven standards, announced that Silicon Labs (NASDAQ: Silicon LABS), a leader in secure, intelligent wireless technology for a more connected world SLAB) became the first IC vendor to support mikroSDK 2.0 Click Board. This is achieved by adding hardware driver extensions (plug-ins) to MIKROE's Gecko SDK, which is now available in Simplicity Studio Unified Development Environment (IDE) for Silicon Labs. The integrated MIKROE Click driver enables embedded engineers to use MIKROE peripheral Click boards to develop hardware and software for embedded systems based on Silicon Labs controllers.

"Many IC vendors now include the mikroBUS socket standard on their development boards, enabling developers to try thousands of different Click boards, saving hardware costs and design time," said Nebojsa Matic, CEO of MIKROE. Now, leading IC vendor Silicon Labs has made the mikroSDK 2.0 Click driver accessible to its Simplicity Studio GSDK unified development environment for the first time after including the mikroBUS socket in its very popular Explorer suite. This will enable designers using Silicon Labs SoC and MCU to easily include the Click Board library in their code. This means that engineers not only save time and money by using the Click Board hardware, but also seamlessly complete the software task."

Anders Pettesson, Director of Broad Marketing at Silicon Labs, added: "After working with MIKROE on the Click board project and seeing the ecosystem possibilities, we decided to bring this flexibility and ease of use to the Silicon Labs environment. By creating the mikroSDK 2.0 Click driver extension, we can now make it easy for embedded engineers to add thousands of peripherals to Silicon Labs software projects."

Nebojsa Matic, CEO of MIKROE, concluded, "We are excited to see that following mikroBUS and Click board, the mikroSDK Click driver is now being used by the embedded industry and our partners. This is a recognition of MIKROE's efforts to standardize and save time, and a testament to the credibility of MIKROE's engineers and developers."
