The LT1161 is a four-extremely high-side gate driver that allows the use of low-cost n-channel power MosFeTs for high-side switching applications. Designed specifically for harsh working environments, such as industrial, avionics and automotive applications, where poor supply regulation and/or transients may exist. The power supply voltage is between -15V and 60V, and the equipment is not damaged.
Typical application
It has four separate switching channels, each containing a fully separate charge pump to fully enhance N-channel MOSFET switches with no external components. A drain induction comparator is also included in each switching channel for induction of switching current.
Block diagram
When the preset current level is exceeded, the switch is off. The switch remains off for a period of time set by an external timing capacitor and then automatically attempts to restart. If the fault persists, the cycle is repeated until the fault is eliminated, thus protecting the MOSFETs.
