Hirose has developed a new miniature flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector for portable electronic products requiring high-speed transmission, the FH53 series.
The connector uses a flip-back actuator, which minimizes the required mounting area and saves valuable PCB space. The compact FH53 series FPC connector has a pitch of 0.2mm, a mounting depth of 3.2mm, and a height of only 0.65mm. The lightweight, small connector weighs only 0.034 grams, making it ideal for a wide range of consumer, medical, point-of-sale, and wearable electronics applications.
The FH53 series FPC connector has excellent impedance characteristics and provides the high-density transmission required to support the embedded DisplayPort ver1.3 and MIPI D-PHY ver1.1 standards.
Rick van Weezel, vice president of sales and marketing at Hirose, said: "Compared to other reverse flip flexible printed circuit connectors currently on the market, the miniature, lightweight FH53 series reduces PCB mounting area by 46% and weight by 60%. "American Electric. "The reduction in size and weight, coupled with ruggedness and high data rates, makes this connector an ideal solution for a variety of small, high-density devices."
The FH53 connector uses a top contact design, and the structure uses a contact retention spring to ensure high reliability and signal continuity. The reverse flip actuator and bottom contact design provide a high holding force of 9.9N. Contact design also prevents solder wicking and flux penetration.
The FPC connector is user-friendly, including a wide taper for smooth FPC insertion. The FH53 series also integrates a metal locking mechanism that allows horizontal FPC insertion / removal and produces a clear tactile click to ensure full insertion. The FPC tab lock secures the FPC in place until the actuator is locked.
The FH53 series is currently available in 41-bit (official production) and 51-bit (sample) versions, with 21- and 31-bit models coming soon. The connector is halogen-free and RoHS compliant.
The high-speed FH53 series is designed for portable electronic products that require high-speed transmission, including smartphones, cameras / video recorders, laptops / tablets, DVD / Blu-ray players, portable music players, handheld gaming systems, and medical equipment.
