The X9252 integrates four digitally controlled potentiometers (XDCPS) on a monolithic CMOS integrated circuit. The digital control potentiometer is realized by a series array of 255 resistance elements. There are contacts between each pair of elements connected to the wiper terminal by a switch.
Functional Diagram
The position of each wiper on the array is controlled by the user through the up/down (U/D) or 2-wire bus interface. Each potentiometer wiper has an associated volatile wiper counter register (WCR) and four non-volatile data registers (dr) that the user can write and read directly.
Pinout
The contents of the WCR control the wiper position on the resistance array via a switch. During power-on, the device recalls the contents of the default data registers DR00, DR10, DR20, and DR30 to the corresponding WCRS. Each DCP can be used as a three-terminal potentiometer or two terminal variable resistors in a wide variety of applications, including bias voltage programming, stepwise network implementation, and three-resistance programmable networks.
