Microchip has launched a new combined analog and digital current sensor PAC1921. This device is the world's first high-end current sensor with digital output and configurable analog output. It can provide power, current or voltage through a single output pin. At the same time, all power-related output values can also be obtained via a 2-wire digital bus compatible with I2C. The PAC1921 is available in a 10-lead 3 × 3 mm VDFN package and is designed with a 2-Wire bus to maximize data and diagnostic reports, while having an analog output to minimize data latency. The analog output can also be adjusted for use with 3V, 2V, 1.5V or 1V microcontroller inputs. PAC1921 is considered an ideal choice for network, power distribution, power, computing, and industrial automation applications that do not allow delays when performing high-speed power management. The 39-bit accumulation register and 128 times gain configuration make the device very suitable for load power measurement of heavy and light load systems from 0V to 32V. It has the ability to integrate power consumption data for more than two seconds. In addition, PAC1921 has a READ / INT pin for the host to control the measurement cycle. This pin can also be used to synchronize readings from multiple devices. Microchip's new PAC1921 high-end power supply and current monitor evaluation board (ADM00592) supports PAC1921.
