Murata Manufacturing has developed medical grade monolithic ceramic capacitors for use in implantable medical devices such as cardiac pacemakers. This device is suitable for critical circuits (GCR series) and non-critical circuits (GCH series) in implantable medical devices such as pacemakers, cochlear implants, insulin pumps and gastric electrical stimulators.
Since medical devices such as pacemakers are designed to be implanted in patients, achieving greater compactness to reduce the burden on patients (reducing invasiveness) is an important issue. The demand for greater compactness continues to grow, so Murata developed and released medical-grade monolithic ceramic capacitors for implantable medical devices. The capacitors have a compact size, high capacitance, and high reliability. The company says that by enabling high-density designs, they will help create more compact implantable medical devices.
