Abaco Systems releases 1553Guard as an integrated solution built directly into the 1553 interface. Other technologies require expensive hardware and major software modifications, but cannot include threat mitigation. The company's "plug and play" devices identify and mitigate threats from individual devices in real time by continuously monitoring and protecting the entire bus, shielding devices from damage and blocking attacks that could compromise platform integrity or mission security. This is a new security technology based on the MIL-STD-1553 system that provides an additional layer of protection against cyber attacks.
It can be easily integrated into any existing bus using a company's existing XMC, USB, or mPCIE products, or using standalone devices connected to the bus. The solution protects the entire bus from a single device, reducing integration time and effort by bypassing the process of re-designing and re-validating existing LRU and modules through expensive and complex hardware and software.
When added to the bus, it is completely passive and does not interfere with normal bus communication. When inappropriate messages are identified, they can be individually disabled without interrupting normal bus communication.
