Vishay Intertechnology has released a new miniature position sensor, the Vishay MCB RAME012 rotary absolute magnetic encoder using advanced non-contact technology to achieve 11-bit accuracy and 14-bit resolution, while maintaining resistance to external magnetic fields, air pollution, mechanical shock, vibration and robustness to temperature changes.
The device has a practical electrical angle of 360 degrees and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +105C. With a smaller outer diameter of 12.7mm, it provides greater accuracy and resolution than comparable sized competitor devices, while providing greater reliability and durability for the harsh operating environments of defense and industrial applications.
The device is available with an SSI output signal in a single-turn variant, as well as other mechanical and electrical interfaces upon request. The unit's body design, with its on-axis design, thin diameter and light weight (11g), makes it ideal for applications where space is limited but angular position must be detected with high accuracy.
With its SSI output and excellent performance/size ratio, the position sensor perfectly replaces potentiometers in missile guidance systems, gimbal for optical balls and missile seekers, positioning systems for small industrial drives (servo drives) , as well as multi-dimensional mechanical measurement of surfaces using 3D probes, with its SSI output and superior performance/size ratio
