Swissbit has expanded the company's line of industrial-grade memory cards with groundbreaking new products. The new G-20 product line from Swissbit includes several CFexpress 2.0 Type B memory cards, which are considered the high-performance successor to the CFast standard.
CFexpress combines all the advantages of removable storage media with the high performance of PCIe-SSD into a rugged enclosure. The product is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as industrial automation, gaming, transportation, medical technology, and applications where thermal management is critical. The new CFexpress product family has capacities up to 1 TB and uses a high-performance interface of the 2-lane NVMe 1.3 PCIe Gen 3.1 specification. In addition to the version with 3D TLC NAND (G-20), Swissbit also offers a pSLC version (G-26).
"CFexpress offers great advantages to customers who need to quickly replace or upgrade storage space in the field. The ability to combine flexibility, robustness and high performance in such a small form factor is unique and has advantages over Compact Flash and CFast. Significant progress has been made. The G-20 series utilizes the proven NVMe 1.3 interface in other industrial SSD standards such as M.2 and U.2, with sequential read speeds up to 1620 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 830 MB/s. Random access read and write IOPS exceeded 115,000 and 131,000, respectively.
The G-20 series with 3D TLC NAND is currently available in storage capacities ranging from 15 GB to 480 GB (a 1 TB version is in development). Swissbit also offers a pure pSLC version, the G-26, which is suitable for applications requiring continuous writing of small packets and very long maintenance intervals. Compared to the G-20, it lasts ten times longer.
Extremely robust and resistant to high temperatures
The CFexpress 2.0 Type B enclosure provides excellent mechanical protection against environmental influences on the memory card. Because the gold-plated pins are completely covered and cannot be accidentally touched, the card is dust and moisture resistant, while also being vibration resistant.
Swissbit's G-20 has been specially developed for industrial use while featuring an efficient thermal design. This, coupled with advanced firmware, enables it to operate in environments with high temperatures and fanless chassis. The G-20 eliminates the need for DRAM cache by using the Host Memory Buffer (HMB) feature, enabling lower power consumption without sacrificing performance. Special data maintenance features provide additional protection for stored data at high operating temperatures.
Security function
The new CFexpress product family includes some standard data protection features as well as optional data protection features such as end-to-end data protection that ensures the integrity of the internal data path. TCG Opal is available as an optional feature that provides additional data protection to the host system. Intellectual property, licenses and other sensitive data are protected using AES-256 encryption. This includes applications that need to securely and reliably transfer device settings and configurations from one device to another.
