TDK is expanding its TMR angle sensor portfolio with the TAD2140 in a T-6 package for automotive and industrial applications. The new sensors provide innovative system-level packaging solutions for PCB-free applications. It contains two complete TMR bridges, a dedicated ASIC for signal conditioning and integrated passive components. Like all of the company's TMR sensors, this device has an angular accuracy of ± 0.2 degrees, achieving the world's smallest angular error of only ± 0.05 degrees at room temperature. The sensor can meet non-contact sensing from 0 degrees to 360 degrees in the temperature range of −40C to + 150C.
The sensor's high angular accuracy, fast response and advanced compensation algorithms make it ideal for motor control applications such as optimizing BLDC motor commutation. In addition, due to its small size, the sensor is ideal for applications where space is limited, such as steering motor commutation.
