Texas Instruments introduces an integrated gate driver that provides adjustable gate driver settings and the ability to flexibly drive a variety of external field effect transistors (FETs), supporting multiple Motors, different speeds or different loads. The DRV8701 enables designers to use single gate drivers to extend their platform on a variety of brushed DC motor models in a variety of household appliances such as white goods, household appliances, robotics, home automation, power tools, and industrial pumps and valves.
The DRV8701 brushed DC gate driver has adjustable gate drivers, advanced protection features, and other integrated components, allowing designers to replace up to 45 discrete components with a single device to build smaller, more robust designs.
Engineers can use the DRV8701EVM evaluation module to test new gate drivers in their systems, which also integrates the MSP430G2553 ultra-low-power microcontroller and the CSD18532Q5B NexFET power MOSFET. The EVM supports currents up to 15A in a compact form factor, which is roughly the size of a business card.
The company said that the DRV8701 is now available in a 4mm x 4mm Quad Flat Lead Free (QFN) PowerPAD package, a thermally enhanced standard size package designed to eliminate the need for bulky heat sinks and heat sinks.
