A new audio function integration method can simplify compliance with European Ecodesign regulations, while supporting high-performance end products-Texas Instruments (TI) launched the PCM186x series of audio front-end equipment. Now, without the need for a 5V power supply or external programmable gain amplifier, smaller and smarter products can be realized at a lower cost.
The highly flexible audio front end of PCM186x supports input levels from small mV microphone input to 2.1 VRMS line input without the need for an external resistor divider. The PCM186x series integrates many system-level functions that can assist or replace certain DSP functions.
All these functions are available through a single 3.3V power supply. The company says that the integrated bandgap reference provides excellent PSRR, so a dedicated analog 3.3V power rail may not be needed.
