Texas Instruments' ISO5851 is a 5.7kVrms reinforced isolated gate driver for IGBTs and MOSFETs with 2.5A source current and 5A sink current. The input side is powered from a single 3V to 5.5V supply. The allowable power supply range on the output side is a minimum of 15V to a maximum of 30V. Two complementary CMOS inputs control the output state of the gate driver. The short propagation time of 76ns ensures precise control of the output stage.
Internal Desaturation (DESAT) fault detection recognizes that the IGBT is in an overload state. When DESAT is detected, the gate driver output is driven low to VEE2, which immediately turns off the IGBT.
