The LM60 device is a precision integrated circuit temperature sensor that can sense the temperature range from −40°C to +125°C while operating from a single 2.7v power supply. The device's output voltage is linearly proportional to Celsius (6.25 mV/°C) and has a DC bias of 424 mV. The offset allows negative temperatures to be read without the need for a negative power source. The nominal output voltage ranges from 174 mV to 1205mv when the temperature ranges from −40 ° C to +125 ° C.

Simplified Schematic

The device is calibrated to provide accuracy of ±2°C at room temperature and ±3°C over the entire temperature range from −25°C to +125°C. The device's linear output, 424mv bias, and factory calibration simplify the external circuitry required in single-power environments where negative temperatures need to be read.

Celsius temperature controller application

Since the static current of the device is less than 110μA, the self-heating temperature in the SOT-23 package is limited to a very low 0.1°C. The shutdown capability of the device is inherent in that its inherent low power consumption allows it to be powered directly from the output of many logic gates.
