To support the company's expertise in building advanced USB PD semiconductor technology, FTDI Chips announced a new development solution. The hardware is based on FT4233HP multi-channel interface chip.
In order to adapt this function to a traditional design that is running, or to a new device that they are prototyping. The new high-speed USB Serial /FIFO evaluation board will allow engineers to start implementing USB power delivery schedules more quickly.
Provides one pair of Type-c power output ports. The first port can contain both the receiver (receiving power) and source (providing power) roles. The second port serves only as a receiver. These ports can support 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V and 20V PDO profiles - as defined in revision 3.0 of the USB Power Delivery Specification. These profiles can be configured by connecting to external EEPROM memory, and the LED indicator indicates which PDO profile is being used. The dimensions of the board are 138.5mm x 77mm
The first port provides USB data transfer and power transfer, and the second port has power transfer capability. A power pass-through function is also included to carry input power from the second port to the first port. External control of power delivery strategy is realized through onboard I2C interface and GPIO pin. These enable adjustment of voltage regulators and load switches.
