The latest module from u-blox, JODY-W3, is a host-based car module. The JODY-W3 host-based automotive module is designed to meet the growing demand for wireless high-speed, high-data communications connectivity for automotive and industrial IoT applications such as manufacturing floor automation, machine control, security and monitoring.
Machine control
The compact (19.8 mm×13.8 mm) JODY-W3 module supports ambient operating temperatures up to +85°C. These modules have been extensively tested and manufactured according to the u-blox certification policy, comply with the AEC-Q104 and ISO/TS 16949 AEC-Q102 standards, and enable interoperability with legacy hardware, And can connect to the main processor through PCIe, SDIO for Wi-Fi, or high-speed UART for Bluetooth.
Equipped with the NXP AW690/88Q9098/88W9098 chipset, the JODY-W3 series supports higher density, high data rate devices to reduce data congestion, while offering Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 and Bluetooth Low Power (LE) capabilities to provide higher multi-channel communication performance for wireless and cloud connectivity.
The u-blox JODY-W3 host-based automotive module provides engineers with parallel dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) multi-radio capabilities, including dual-mode Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6 with 2 x 2 MIMO support. These JODY-W3 modules are ideal for data-intensive in-car infotainment and telematics applications, such as creating in-car hotspots, enabling Wi-Fi display features such as Apple CarPlay, and transferring video across multiple devices.
