Vishay has expanded its 157 PUM-SI series of ultra-small snap-in power aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a higher voltage rating of 500V. Designed for power supplies, industrial motor control and solar photovoltaic inverters, these enhanced devices save board space and reduce costs by allowing designers to use one component instead of two 250V capacitors.
Embedded capacitors have a cylindrical aluminum case and blue bushing insulation, and are available in 23 sizes from 22mm x 25mm to 35mm x 60mm. At 500V, these devices have a maximum operating temperature of + 85C and a service life of more than 5,000 hours.
Electrolytic capacitors with non-solid electrolytes are ideal for smoothing, filtering, and energy storage in pulsed power applications. The company said that RoHS-compliant capacitors have a keyed polarity snap-in version.
